Myst is classic no doubt. As one of the highest selling games for the mac, its no doubt that you have at least tried Myst. Even if you do prefer gory FPS like me. Myst has always pulled the gamer in with its intriguing storyline, its beautiful 3D environments and its maddening puzzles. Now although the Myst series did extremely well, it was not how Robyn and Rand, the games creators, had envisioned it. In the early 90's, the technology was not available to make a true 3D world. This new game allows that to be possible. When you first enter realMYST, you at first notice the graphical changes. Graphics have been updated to 32-bit. Small changes like rippling water and fluttering butterflies can now be seen as well as the graphics as a whole looking much better. the player can now move in full circles and pan their view in full real time. But, like most of us who have tried a FPS, the movement is disappointing. The camera basically glides, with no bob of a moving set. It takes away from immersing yourself in the game. The 3D remake also drops the framerate quite frequently, users can try lowering colors but that's about it. But, the sounds in realMYST are beautiful. The player would never guess that the bubbling water sounds were made from putting a condom around a mic and shoving it into a flushing toilet. Nice. Rating:8 out of:10
